In October 2025, we worked together as a school community to develop and update our vision, values and aims.
Our values are: Compassion, Community, Responsibility and Courage.
These values and Getting it Right for Every Child underpin life in our learning community.
Our vision and aims take account of the learners’ entitlements and the four capacities and reflects the uniqueness of our setting. We have also considered the United Nations Convention on the Rights of a Child, Getting it Right for Every Child, 21st Century Skills, Learning for Sustainability Target 2030, the seven principles of curriculum design, curriculum areas, learning and teaching approaches and personal supports available to children. Our curriculum provides equity of opportunity and maximises the successes and achievements of our learners.
At Kincardine in Menteith Primary School we aim to:
Provide a safe, nurturing and inclusive environment where children develop informed views and opinions, build empathy for others, nature and the wider world and are empowered to bring about positive change.
Offer a broad and balanced curriculum which allows children to explore the connections between people, communities and issues, and supports them to develop their personality, talents and abilities.
Develop independent learners who are curious, innovative, healthy, self-motivated and confident.
Work in partnership with parents, partners, and the wider school community to support children.

What makes us unique?
When designing our curriculum, we consulted with parents, children, staff and our wider partners to agree what makes our community unique. We also asked what attributes, skills, knowledge and understanding were most important. As a result of this consultation, alongside available data and national guidance we considered what we should offer within our curriculum to meet the needs of our children and families. Specific areas identified were:
Maintaining a focus on school values
Ensuring high levels of literacy and numeracy skills
Broadening experiences beyond the immediate school environment, giving children experiences which connect their learning to the wider world and understanding the wealth of opportunities available.
Developing confidence, resilience and positive mental health
Making the most of staff expertise in all areas
Taking advantage of our extensive school grounds for play, sports and to promote opportunities for learning about biodiversity and sustainability
Engaging with local employers
