G-Suite

Much like Microsoft have placed their productivity apps under the "Office 365" banner, Google have gathered theirs under G- Suite. This encompasses a large range of tools, from those with general applicability across sectors, like Docs & Sheets (comparable to MS Word & Excel), to those more specifically targeted at educators, such as Google Classroom. You will need to sign-in to use some tools and services but all Stirling school staff have a username following the same format: surnamefirstinitial01s@stirlingschools.net and your Glow password.

The web page directly below is the resources section of the Google for Education Training Centre which provides help with using Google tools & devices, some inspiring ideas on their use and an online community of educators who use Google for Education. If you scroll further down, the next page is the training section. This provides a range of structured online training courses for beginners to more experienced users.

Signing in to the Chrome Browser

This short video shows how to sign in to the Chrome web browser. You may already use this to access the internet, but probably as a guest. Signing in to the browser ensures you are using your @stirlingschools google account all the time and is essentially what pupils do when logging into a Chromebook. This enables you to download and use extensions (apps which work through the browser), syncs your bookmarks, usernames & passwords across devices (if you wish) and automatically signs you into all Google services (such as Google Classroom, Drive, Docs etc.).
