Expected Student Behavior:
Come to class prepared, on time, and ready to work
Stay in assigned seat/work areas
Turn in all assignments completed and on time
I understand that not everyone creates art at the same pace. If you are not finished with an assignment by the due date, turn it in anyway. I will grade it as is and return it to you to complete on your own time or when you are finished with other assignments. I will then regrade the assignment and adjust your grade accordingly. If you finish an assignment before the deadline, you are expected to work on your independent project.
Be respectful of yourself and those around you at all times
Work the entire class period on artwork only – art is not a study hall or social gathering
Respect the classroom, art materials, and equipment
Phones may be used at my discretion for listening to music with headphones or researching reference photos. Abuse of this privilege will result in phone usage being banned or appropriate disciplinary action. Do not accept or make phone calls while in class. Do not take pictures or videos of me or other students without permission.
Use appropriate subject matter for all projects – drug, alcohol, gang, violent, or obscene images will not be tolerated
Follow all rules and guidelines from the Stillwater High School Student Handbook
Art Fee:
Art III requires a $25.00 materials fee per student for the semester. Cash or checks will be accepted. Checks should be made out to Stillwater High School. All art fees are due August 23rd. Please come talk to me if the art fee or deadline is an issue. This art fee will provide you with all of the materials that you need to complete this course. If you want to bring in your own materials (paints, brushes, etc.), that is allowed, but it is not required.
Art Room Procedures:
1. Entering the classroom: Enter the classroom quietly. Proceed to your assigned seat and immediately begin the bellwork assignment posted on the board.
2. Attention to the teacher: When I raise my hand or ask for your attention, all activities including permitted talking will stop and everyone will direct their attention to me.
3. Student attention: The student will quietly raise their hand. I will come to you as soon as I can.
4. Supplies: If you need to collect materials, sharpen your pencil, throw trash away, or otherwise leave your seat, do so quietly without disrupting the class. If I am addressing the class, please wait until I am finished talking.
5. Paper headings: Your name, class period, and date should be written neatly in the bottom right corner on the back of all of your artwork. The same information should be written at the top right corner of any written assignments. Failure to do so may result in points being deducted from your assignment.
6. Restroom visits: Please go to the restroom before or after class. If there is an emergency, students may use the restroom in the Pottery Barn.
7. Clean up: I will indicate when it is time to clean up. Students will stop working on their projects, place their projects in the appropriate area, thoroughly clean work area and all supplies, return materials to the appropriate place, and return quietly to their seat. No one leaves the classroom until all equipment is properly cleaned and all supplies are put away.
8. Dismissal: The bell is a signal to the teacher that the class is ending. Students are to remain in their seats until I have dismissed the class.
