What are we reading?
As part of our enjoyment of reading, each class has a class novel that they read every day. Here is a list of what each class is reading:
Dragonfly, and Butterfly classes are sharing a range of books linked to their learning and based on the children's interests.

We would like all of our children to be in school every day of the week but realise that sometimes an absence is unavoidable. We expect all of our children to be in school for 90% or more of the time. Is your child in the green zone?
Year group focus - Year 2
As part of English Year 2 have been focusing on the book 'The Lighthouse Keepers Lunch'. In the book the seagulls kept on stealing Mr Gringlin's Lunch. The children were challenged to plan, follow instructions and make a sandwich which would be disgusting for the seagulls but delicious for Mr Gringlin. After the sandwiches were made, the children had a chance to sample their sandwiches.
Year group focus - Year 6
In Year 6 we have been listening to music, focusing on pitch, beat and rhythm. Here are some videos of some of us doing vocal performances using what we've learnt. Look out for some 'interesting' moves!

This week we have taken part in Safer Internet Day activities as part of our E-Safety Week. We have had a whole school Zoom assembly and looked at ways to be safe and respectful online in our lessons. Here is a video from Year 1 giving advice on how to be safe online.

Parent Zone digital wellbeing activities
Half term is on the horizon, and while your child might be looking forward to the week off, you might be wondering how to keep them occupied and active – especially if you aren’t able to get out and about.
More time at home can mean more time online – and there are plenty of apps, games and ideas that can boost energy levels and wellbeing, while having fun as a family. Here is a link to some fun activities and games you could try:

National Online Safety
National Online Safety produce online help guides known as #wakeupewednesday to keep children safe online. This week links into Children's' Mental Health Week and looks at ways we can use technology to check in with our friends.

Year 6 Superstars
Every week, the Year 6 staff choose up to six children who have worked exceptionally hard and made real progress with their learning.
It was a really difficult decision but this week the year 6 staff have chosen the following pupils:
Natalia for a well executed non-chornolgical report.
PJ for improved effort in maths.
Leyland for an improvement.
Kai for improved presentation and handwriting.
Ellie-May for her writing of a non-chronological report.
The Mayor's birthday visit
On Monday 7th February, we were lucky enough to be visited by the Mayor of Lincoln, Jackie Kirk, as part of the Mayor of Lincoln's 815th birthday celebrations! Year 3 and 4 had the chance to find out more about the Mayor of Lincoln, as well as ask her lots of questions. Some interesting facts we found out included: she is the 815th Mayor of Lincoln; there are only two other cities (London and Cirencester) who have had a mayor for longer; the staff is over 150 years old; and you can only be mayor for one year.

Breakfast club booking
Following trialling the use of online booking forms, we have decided to no longer use them, as the majority of people using alternative ways of booking their places. If your child requires a place at breakfast club, please book by calling the school office on 01522 785760. Each session costs just £1 per child and payment should be made at https://www.parentpay.com/ If your child is eligible for pupil premium, breakfast club places are free.
