Digital Citizenship: Giving Credit

There are many ways to show that we are responsible, reliable, respectful citizens of a digital world. Frequently we are working on a project and we find a resource that is helpful. It may be a picture, words, or a video. We want to use that resource to enhance our project. We need to examine the resource to see if we can use it and how we can use it. We can look at the licensing on the resource. It may be a piece of copyrighted material or the author may have licensed the work under Creative Commons Licensing.

Copyrighted material gives the owner exclusive rights to their work. We need to acknowledge that this work does not belong to use by citing the source.

Material licensed under Creative Commons gives us more freedom to use and modify another person's work, incorporated it into our work, and share our work.
