Philosophy and Curriculum

Our philosophy is that through our teaching, we ensure that each child is loved, nurtured and safe while growing in all areas of development. Not only will the children learn academic skills but also a strong, age-appropriate understanding of our Catholic faith.  We are strong believers in implementing an emergent style of lesson plans early in the school year while we get to know each child’s area of interest and understanding. Throughout the school year there will be guided lessons that are individualized to meet each child's specific needs.

Our curriculum is one that follows the West Virginia Early Learning Standards through the use of the state chosen, Creative Curriculum. Ongoing assessments and observations of the children are conducted during the school year. We believe that having open communication between teacher and families is needed to achieve a successful year for your child!  Parent/Teacher conferences will be held during the school year, in addition to these, we, Pre-K 4 Teachers, will make ourselves available to meet with you if you have further questions or concerns. We look forward to a wonderful, fun and exciting school year!

God Bless!

Over the weekend you and your child may pick a planet to learn more about! Your child may bring in a poster board, 3D art sculpture, picture, or just a piece of paper with some fun facts about that planet to share at circle time.

*In addition to our classroom lessons, the children will also attend "Special Classes", consisting of Art, Music, PE, and STEAM.

Religion: The entire month of May we honor our Blessed Virgin Mother Mary. The students took part in a classroom May Crowning, as we learned more about our Heavenly Mother, Queen of Heaven and Earth! We will continue to honor her the entire month with more discussions, prayers and stories.
