Music K-8

Welcome to music class at SFdSCCS! I am so excited for my third year at St. Francis and I look forward to continuing to grow relationships and leading students closer to God through music.
Originally from Morgantown, I graduated from Morgantown High School in 2016 and continued my education at West Virginia University, where I graduated with a Bachelor of Music in Music Performance. There, I studied Vocal Performance, as well as Viola Performance on the side. Following my undergraduate studies, I attended Liberty University, where I graduated with a Master of Arts in Teaching, focused primarily on Music Education.
Before beginning my teaching career, I pursued a dream of mine to work at my favorite place, Walt Disney World. There, I had the opportunity to work as a Jungle Cruise Skipper at the World Famous Jungle Cruise. In doing so, I had the opportunity to drive boats and tell jokes every day, but more importantly, I was able to work with families from all over the world and gain a deeper understanding of interacting with others from any background or culture, and with different abilities.
Now, I am fulfilling my other dream of teaching, and I am eager for another fun filled year of learning and making music with the students at St. Francis. I look forward to a prosperous year!
My Philosophy of Education
Each student is capable of learning, despite his or her personal abilities or exceptionalities. As a music educator, I believe in creating an environment where students are inspired to seek new knowledge and engage with class material to influence physical, mental, emotional, social, and intellectual growth. I strive to create relationships with students to encourage them to feel comfortable in asking questions, participating, playing, and experimenting with musical material. Each student is unique and by creating a secure classroom environment, I can encourage students to discover the importance of music education while learning from themselves and from others.
