For our interview we were hoping to interview Jacinda Ardern. We sent her an email. We got a automatic reply, saying that 'With all of the emails we receive a day we might not get back to your'. We then waited for a while and because she wasn't getting back to us. So then we decided to interview someone else that could relate to the future a bit more. Then we realised that we could interview someone young, and that is in university that is studying for a job in the future. Immediately we thought of environmental studies we thought of this because in school this term we've had people come in and talk about their jobs and the future for there jobs. So we interviewed A person that goes to Auckland University. Here are the questions we sent him:
So we waited a while for a response. After around 2 days we got one. Here's what he said:
What do you think the future will look like for us in our country?
I think I that not much will change in general, we would continue to see economic and population growth.
Do you think that the mistakes that we make today will affect us in the future?
Yes. At the moment we are polluting the atmosphere with co2 which is warming the earth resulting in catastrophic long term consequences, however we have been aware of this phenomena for a while and have done absolutely nothing about finding a solution and fixing the problem. I also think that income inequality will have a devastating impact in the short and long term. Currently the economy is being propped up on cheap debt, while wages continue to stagnate. In the next 18 months we will likely see a global recession because of this, and other factors.
What do you think you or the future prime ministers can do to fix this?
There is no easy and cheap solution, carbon emissions would have to be reduced and the population would have to adapt to electrical technologies. Austerity measures could take place proceeding a recession. Both of these are very unpopular measures, however overtime people will overcome.
What problems do you think we will face in the future?
Global warming, mass migration due to war and climate change, rising sea temperatures, continued wealth gap, technological innovation, cheaper goods, free trade.
