Writing Workshops - Week 4

This week our focus is on crafting our explanation texts and revising them to a high standard. Use the checklist in your writing folder as a step by step to ensure you have all the correct elements, this can also help your focus with this task.

Workshop 1 Focus  Perfect Paragraphs

Use your planning template closely to structure your writing correctly. Make sure you use the technical/specific vocabulary you planned for. You may even like to add in a glossary at the end of your piece of writing or you can describe those terms within your paragraphs using brackets to add in the extra information. Please add in diagrams with labels where appropriate to help the reader understand.

Workshop 2 Focus Editing Skills

What things can we rework in a piece of writing?

The process of revising/reworking

• Read to see if it makes sense, read aloud if need be you will likely pick up your errors with more ease.

• Read with a focus of lifting your vocabulary ( have you chosen the best word for the purpose? Have you explained yourself clearly.

• Add or delete words, rearrange sentences if need be to ensure a better flow. Are your subheadings or topic sentences 

• Check your punctuation to see if that would help with the clarity of your piece.
