Statistics involves the gathering and organisation of data and information. Data is collected and then processed. It can be displayed using graph and listed in tables. Calculations can be made to summarise the data. Finally the data is presented, discussed and conclusions are made.
Statistics are often used to help to show or prove something.
Look the following data. You may use this data as a starting point before you collect your own.
You may find the following site helpful when collecting data
Use Google Sheets to collate your data. Pick an appropriate chart to display your data. You could use the following:
Pie chart, bar chart, column chart, scatter chart etc. Use what you think shows your data the best.
Write 3 statements about your data to summarise the results.
Place all your work on a google drawing or slide. It must include the following;
A title
A statement that states your variables and how you have collected your data
A screenshot of your data from google sheets
A screenshot of your named graph (x axis and y axis labeled)
A statement why you have chosen this graph to show your data
Three statements to summarise your data
One statement must include why you think this has happened
One statement must include statistics from your data
One statement must statement overall findings
Upload your work to your blog, make sure you give an introduction about the purpose behind the learning, your DLO, and a question to pose for your audience e.g. what part of the data surprised you the most?
