What is Accelerated Reader?
Accelerated Reader, or AR, is a program used at St. Finn Barr to track and improve our reading. Students can find books, take tests, earn points, and track their progress here. Participation in this program is mandatory for all Middle School Students.
How can I find out if a book is on AR?
You find out if a book is on AR and how many points it is worth at arbookfind.com.
How can I take AR tests?
You can take AR tests on the STAR test website. You may take AR tests during Homeroom, in class if you have extra time, or at lunch or after school by appoinment.
How much should I be reading?
Middle school students are expected to read 20 minutes a night. In addition, each student has their own AR Goal. This goal can be found on the AR website. Each student is expected to meet their AR Goal each trimester. This counts towards your Language Arts grade.
