Supporting Students

There are four primary components to a school counseling program and below you will find the primary ways I work with and support students:

Direct Student Services:

In-person interactions between school counselors and students. Help students develop the knowledge, attitudes, and skills outlined in the ASCA Mindsets & Behaviors for Student Success to help students improve achievement, attendance, and discipline

Indirect Student Services:

Consultation: Providing information, opinions, and recommendations to help support a student's needs or seeking information about student needs.

Collaboration: Process by which multiple individuals work toward a common goal and share responsibility for associated tasks. e.g. crisis response, community partnerships, committees, advisory boards, parent workshops, etc.

Referrals: When students' needs extend beyond the training/responsibilities of the school counseling role. Referral sources may include academic support, social/emotional support, and future planning support.
