Potential Hazards in Current Design:
1) Data Collection
-The design will be using sensors to automatically collect data. Data collection is a large ethical issue, and regardless of what data is collected if people are part of the collection process they must be informed or it will be unethical.
2) AI Algorithm Usage
-The design will be using AI-based algorithms to sort and categorize data. Artificial Intelligence uses a lot of energy, and by running this sensor network 24/7 the use of AI will increase the energy consumption manyfold. Additionally, the use of AI means that promgrammers or engineers will be removed from their jobs, which is another ethical issue with using Artificial Intelligence.
Solutions to Identified Hazards:
1) Data Collection Transparency
-Keep all the passengers informed of the types of data collected and the purposes they are being used for
-Ensure that a majority of the passengers are comfortable with the data collection, and ensure consent for data collection with a check at ticket booths
2) Efficient Energy Usage
-Design sensor systems that use less energy, and using the AI in cycles to minimize it and prevent overuse
-Utilize renewable energy sources (solar, kinetic energy) in order to stay partially self-sufficient and lower the energy drain caused by AI
3) Alternative Occupation Opportunities
-Programmers and engineers who lose their job to the AI algorithms can stay on to either troubleshoot or repair the system, an alternative to their previous employment
