Our mission is to revolutionize the fire prevention and detection system in wilderness areas by designing and implementing a complex sensor network deployable in remote areas to improve wildfire containment response time. Our goal is to prioritize safety, environmental protection, and reliability in order to minimize the loss of life, populace displacement, and property/environmental damage due to the destructive force of wildfires.

Project Description
Our project focuses on developing a low-cost, reliable sensor system for early wildfire detection in remote wilderness areas. The objective is to design a device capable of continuously monitoring environmental conditions associated with wildfire risk and ignition, including temperature, air humidity, gas levels, and potentially wind, rainfall, and soil conditions. The system will be designed for long-term operation using a low-power microcontroller, with either a rechargeable solar-powered battery system or another energy-efficient power source. Additional objectives include determining an effective communication and coverage range, identifying practical deployment locations such as communication towers and utility corridors, and developing a weather-resistant device suitable for harsh outdoor environments. The project will also evaluate methods for reducing the number of devices required by prioritizing high-risk wildfire regions. Deliverables will include a functional sensor prototype, power and communication system design, environmental monitoring strategy, deployment and coverage plan, and cost analysis.
