Our Objective: After noticing the growing dependency on mobile devices and the increasing environmental concerns around energy consumption, I wanted to design a practical solution that addresses both issues. By developing a solar panel iPhone case, my goal was to empower people to charge their phones sustainably, even in remote locations, while reducing reliance on traditional energy sources and minimizing the environmental impact of everyday tech use.
I am Patrick, an electrical engineering student from Stevens Institute of Technolgy. The idea for the solar panel iPhone case came from my passion for renewable energy and my desire to merge it with practical everyday technology. Observing the growing reliance on smartphones and the need for sustainable solutions, I decided to use my engineering skills to design a product that combines convenience with environmental responsibility.
Methodology:
The solar panel iPhone case will be developed using lightweight, flexible photovoltaic cells integrated into a durable and sleek phone case design. Initial prototypes will be tested for energy efficiency, durability, and usability.
Expected Results:
The solar panel iPhone case is expected to provide an eco-friendly charging solution that extends battery life on the go, decreases reliance on wall chargers, and promotes green energy. The case will attract environmentally conscious consumers and those seeking convenience during travel or in remote areas.
Development Cost:
The development cost is estimated to range between $100-$200, covering research, design, and initial manufacturing. The final retail price of the case will be between $30 and $60, making it an affordable, eco-friendly alternative for consumers looking to reduce their environmental impact.
