Since we are not creating any new technology, simply repackaging it in a new form, the moral misuse are the same as those done with any prototyping environment. It can be used to help produce something unseemly or even illegal
It also poses the morality of existing augmented/virtual reality headsets namely the appropriateness of its use in certain settings, and also its over use at the expense of other activities
As this product is meant to be mobile, it has the potential to be used while walking or even driving. Doing so can cause a huge risk to the user by distracting them from hazards on the sidewalk or road
Also, similarly to how some of the Samsung Galaxy phone batteries overheated and exploded, electronics can fail and sometimes with harmful side effects
Similarly to the previously mentioned dangers to users, the users of this device can unknowingly put others at risk by using it while trying to perform other tasks
The best solutions can be implemented as follows:
We can perform tests and gather statistical data about the physical safety of the device including overheating, strain on the eyes, and risk of electrocution
We can provide safety warnings and trainings for the user to get the best acquainted with safe practices while using the device
Device failure due to internal breakage, electronic failure, or device component malfunctioning
Device use/misuse, damaged parts by user
Test each device thoroughly and know the expected lifetime. Also provide documentation to the users about device maintenance and when parts may need to fail
There is great debate, one which is easy to see both sides for, of whether or not increased usage in a virtual world is beneficial for productivity or harmful for lack of social interaction
Discarding the device must be done properly so that it does not end up in waste
Besides as a collective society making sure we stay present in the real world, the product must come with directions on how to properly store and discard the device as needed
