There are many copyrights on how the placement or use of a fingerprint scanner. The big ones are on power buttons or unlocking buttons on electronic devices.

Base Definition

Patents - "A type of intellectual property that gives its owner the legal right to exclude others from making, using, or selling an invention for a limited period of time in exchange for publishing an enabling disclosure of the invention"

Given the specificity of certain published and granted Patents, there may be a slew of conflicts if we chose to move forward with a patent filing process. We have detailed a handful below.

Bloomberg Terminal IP Conflict

There is one major patent that may conflict with our IP. Bloomberg Finance, LP has a patent for "Computer Terminals Biometrically Enabled For Network Functions and Communications" (Patent No. 9378347) and "Computer Keyboard With Secure Authentication Features" (Patent No. 10445483) that function very similarly to our product. The key difference is that Bloomberg enabled their biometric terminals to work with their proprietary trading communications app ("Bloomberg Terminal") , while our "terminal" intended to work with numerous 3rd party applications that require password authentication. In short, this may produce a conflict with ours IP-wise.

Other Issues

Furthermore, Patent No. 11,265,313 "Authentication Control Device and Authentication Control Method" May possibly limit certain intended uses of a fingerprint-secured information storage system.
