Project Abstract

Despite the improvements and advancements in autonomous vehicle technology over the past couple of years, there are still some major issues with communication systems between autonomous vehicles. Currently there is no standard in place that allows for efficient and reliable communication between vehicles on the road that can support the transition to self-driving vehicles. This leads to inefficiencies in cost and road utility especially affecting industries that involve platooning vehicles(such as shipping companies and military vehicles). We aim to solve this issue by creating a modular system that will give vehicles semi-autonomous capabilities and reliable communication systems using DSRC in the hope of reducing costs for these industries and improving road utility.
