The Maly Bed is a solid wood frame on a foundation of metallic finish wooden "blocks". It's styling creates a low horizontal plane and grants your room a contemporary basis while retaining traditional lines and providing a comfortable space to rest and relax.
The asymmetrical frame around the mattress is 12" wide on the right side and on the foot, and 6" on the other two sides. Two swivel side tables are on the 12" side and the foot.
There are two original blue cushions (a solid insert with foam padding) which rests in a slot and provide a comfortable backrest. The "slot" runs around the bed giving you the option to place the cushions in any number of configurations. Hard to describe but very elegant.
The overall dimensions of the bed are: 99" wide (8'3" or 2.51m) by 107" long (8'11" or 2.72m). The top of the wood frame is at 11.5" (29.12cm), and the mattress rests a bit higher depending on the thickness of your setup. The cushions come up to about 42".
The mattress rests on a clever frame of slats, with some being stronger for hips and torso. While you can buy mattresses to fit the frame, we have used several layers of different density foam (we've replaced it several times over the 19 years I've had the bed). The "cutout" for the mattress is European King sized, 71" wide and 79" long. Over the years I've tried a number of different densities, memory foam, etc., it's really personal preference. The foam goes in a sized mattress bag and then sits on the slats which serve as a "box spring".
The frame is in excellent condition with some really slight imperfections I show in the photos below. It's heavy, solid and disassembles into four wood pieces, a center support, two "rolls" of the slats, two slat frames, the side tables, and 7 or so shaped "blocks" to support the frame.
I am the original owner of the bed having bought it from Ligne Roset in San Francisco back in 1997.
Note this is NOT the Maly 2 bed, but the original (which is much cooler!)
