what
what
HOOT is an initiative created by the Sternberger Specialist Teachers, designed to enhance the Social and Emotional Learning (SEL) of our students. HOOT stands for “Helping Ourselves and Others Thrive.”
when
There are four HOOT Days throughout the school year. Each year our Specialist Teachers come up with new and engaging activities which take place on designated HOOT Days.
about
The first HOOT Day each year aims to teach our students more about our community. This may include different cultures, career opportunities and more. The specialists look to engage presenters from within our Sternberger community and within our larger Greensboro and Guilford County community.
The second HOOT Day each school year is a HOOT Day of Service. The activities planned for this day aim to engage our students in meaningful and thoughtful ways to create a positive local impact.
The third HOOT day each year is known as HOOT REBOOT! Sternberger staff show students how they can reboot and recharge when their "batteries" are getting low by taking time for themselves.
The fourth HOOT day is our annual HOOT Field Day. The HOOT theme for this event is teamwork - how World Changers collaborate and work together for group activities. HOOT Field Day also promotes the idea that healthy bodies encourage healthy minds.
