Reading

Reading is taught by Ms. Hermann

Each week students start a reading story from our reading series Wonders and they finish the week with a reading quiz on Friday. This is not a test they must study for since a lot of time is spent in class on the material. Students will also spend time each week in reading groups to continue working on skills from the story and on leveled readers. A few times a year students will read novels and the students will participate in literature circles to teach them how some of their reading skills carry over to books they can find in the library.

September - April your child can participate in our Book -It program. Calendars are sent home at the beginning of each month and due at the beginning of the following month. If your child reads 300 minutes for the month they will be awarded with 10 extra credit points in Reading.
