Simple Machines

Description:

Simple machines cover the 6 basic simple machines! These machines make up everything that we see today, from your bookshelf to your computer chair. The 6 simple machines are:

• Lever
• Wheel and Axle
• Pulley
• Wedge
• Inclined Plane
• Screw

In addition to this, we'll be calculating IMA, AMA, efficiency, and work (also called moment)! This is a very difficult unit within Principles of Engineering, as it is math heavy and there are a lot of equations. It's important during this learning target that you're staying up-to-date in your learning and coming into office hours for help when needed.

Assessments and Projects

• Simple machines quiz 1 (IMA, AMA, and work for lever, wheel and axle, and pulley)
• Simple machines quiz 2 (IMA, AMA, and work for screw, inclined plane, wedge)
• Simple machines test (You'll be tested on any of the 3 simple machines and you won't know which ones you'll get on the test)
• Project within LT3: Compound Machine Design
