FDR In a Nutshell

The final design review is going to be a poster that you will be presenting to the class and the STEM competition. This definitely differs from the PDR and CDR! To prepare for the FDR, it's recommended that you divide up the sections below among the team members, but make sure that you also work together to refine each section.

The Components

• Abstract
  • The abstract is a quick summary of your entire project. Think of this like the synopsis of a movie or a Sparknotes of a book in English. It tells you the beginning, middle, and end of the story. (Should be shorter than the introduction).
• Introduction
  • The introduction tells the story of how your project started. What were you thinking about when you thought about your problem statement? How did you arrive to your problem? What were you hoping to achieve? Etc.
• Problem Statement
  • Discuss some of the main problem statements that you talked about. Which problem statements had potential in your project? Which did you end up with and why?
• Materials List
  • List the materials, how many (quantity), and cost for all the products you used in your project.
• Initial Design Draft
  • What was your first draft like? Include images and pictures of the prototype, CAD, groups working, cutting, etc. Discuss what led you to this design choice and if it worked or not.
• Final Design Draft/Results of Project
  • What was modified from your initial draft? Did it work? What was its effectiveness and what did you use to test it?
• Discussion and Reflection
  • Discuss your project and what went well and what did not go well. In your testing, did your product perform perfectly? If not, where could it be improved and what went wrong in your project? Is there something you would have done differently? These questions are just starting questions to guide your writing. Don't rely on them like a rubric.
• Acknowledgements
  • Acknowledge mentors, programs, and software that got you through your project. (Don't forget the school itself).

FDR Upload

1. Add the folder to "Starred" so you can find it. (Click on the folder name under the search bar and click "starred")

2. Create a new folder with your team name in your period folder

3. Upload your files to that folder (do not share it with me. It will automatically share).
