First Week of Advent

By Sister Francesca

This is the first week of Advent, the season of preparation for the birth of Jesus at Christmas. Here is a link to some ways you might choose to celebrate Advent at home:https://www.teachingcatholickids.com/8-practical-ways-to-get-ready-for-advent/

Friday, December 8, is the Feast of the Immaculate Conception of Mary. We celebrate the great gift God gave Mary in allowing her to be conceived without original sin. Of course, this is ultimately a gift to each of us because it prepared her to be the mother of Jesus. Mary, under the title of the Immaculate Conception, is the patron saint of the United States of America. This feast is a holy day of obligation – a great opportunity to come join us for our school Mass at 8:30 if your schedule allows!

Prayer to Saint Dominic

O Saint Dominic, glorious preacher,

Afire with the truth of life,

Pray for us, and for our school,

Saint Dominic Academy.

May our prayer draw us close to Christ,

Our study to his wisdom,

Our community fill us with his peace,

And our service prove his love.

United by the Spirit with you and all the saints,

May everything we do bring glory to God,

Honor to Our Lady,

And blessing to our world,

We ask this through Christ our Lord.

Amen.
