Hello! My name is Ashley Miller, and this will be the start of my 12th school year teaching at St. Clair!
I grew up right here in Southern Minnesota, so this community has always been home to me. I graduated from Loyola High School in 2010 and then attended Minnesota State University, Mankato, where I earned my Bachelor of Science degree in Secondary English Education with a minor in Communication Studies in 2015. After graduating, I was lucky enough to be hired at St. Clair, and I've been here ever since! English has always been a love of mine, and I can't wait to share that enthusiasm with my students.
One of my favorite parts of teaching is getting to create, try, and improve what I do in the classroom. I love creating and revamping my own curriculum each year and finding new ways to make lessons more engaging, meaningful, and useful for my students. I rarely teach something exactly the same way twice because I'm always thinking about what worked, what didn't, and how I can make it even better the next year. I am someone who never stops learning and never stops pushing myself to improve, and I hope my students see that same mindset in me!
Along with loving all things English, I also enjoy spending time with my husband, Matt, our 6-year-old son, Benson (who will be going into 1st Grade at St. Clair this fall), our dogs, Libby and Luca, my family, and my friends. When I'm not at school, you can usually find me with my nose in a book, building LEGO sets, going on spontaneous adventures with my husband and son, rewatching The Office (Dwight Schrute is the best!), or cheering on the MSU Mavericks at hockey games! I am also a plant mom, so I have tons of plants at home and here at school.
Over the last decade, I have loved being a part of the Cyclone Community as a teacher, and I am so excited to continue experiencing this amazing community as a parent! GO CYCLONES! 🌪️
