I believe that excellent communication between home and school is necessary for a successful school year. Throughout the year, I will communicate with you primarily through ClassDojo. The weekly and monthly newsletters will be posted here, along with any important messages you need to know about or reminders. I will also post pictures from school on this platform.
Star Student of the Week Schedule
Monday: Send in the poster, that will be sent home, with all your child’s favorites things. You and your child can decorate it any way that they desire.
Tuesday: Parents can email me 2 songs, from Youtube, that your child likes and we will play them during Circle Time. Wednesday: SHow and tell (something reasonably sized)
Thursday: Students can ask the Star Student questions about themselves (Q & A)
FRIDAY: Star of the week parents or guest can come and read a special book to the class. Guests can come at 2:00pm to read and can take their Star Student home after reading. Half day students can have a guest come at 10:30 am.
*THE READER MUST BE FULLY VIRTUS TRAINED!!!! IF YOU ARE NOT YOU CAN EMAIL ME A VIDEO OF READING THE SPECIAL BOOK TO YOUR CHILD*
Snack
Please send in a small snack for your child each day, separate from their lunch. Some suggestions: goldfish crackers, fruit, fruit snacks, etc..(please no fruit cups or juice boxes). PLEASE NOTHING WITH NUTS!!!! Make sure to please practice opening the snack and water bottle with your child. A child size water bottle may also be sent to school, please do not send large water bottles that the little ones cannot manipulate. The small metal ones with pop up straws work well for this age.
Homework
There is no daily homework in preschool. Monthly family projects and reading calendars will be sent home and encouraged, but NOT required. The new calendar and monthly parent project will be sent home before the beginning of each month. Any questions on these projects please reach out to me.
Discipline System
At the end of each day, if a student has a great day, they will receive a sticker on their hand at dismissal. If the student has not exhibited good behavior that day, for example crying, not listening, not being kind to a friend, etc., they will not receive a sticker for that day. When this behavior occurs they will put their name on the “sad” side of the board. During the day, they have the opportunity to exhibit better behavior and move their name back to the “Happy” side of the board and receive the sticker for the day. This system works to recognize and correct certain behaviors and the kiddos understand the concept very well. They absolutely love getting their sticker every day!! I will introduce the system on the first full day of school. Please encourage this system at home, as this will let you know if your child has had a good day at school. If for some reason a student needs more intervention, I will reach out and speak to you personally.
