Support, Connection and Belonging: Employee Resource Groups at STCC
Session 1: 10:00am-10:50am | Room 413
This session will provide an overview of STCC's Employee Resource Groups (ERGs), including the Black Professionals Group (BPG), Hispanic Association in Higher Education (HAHE), the LGBTQ+ Employee Resource Group, and Courageous Conversations. Presenters will share about what ERGs are and the role they play in creating more supportive and inclusive workplaces. Participants will learn about the history, present activities, and future vision of the current STCC ERGs. Accomplishments, impact, benefits, challenges, and collaborative work of the STCC ERGs will be highlighted, as well as information on how to get involved.
Presenters:
Cynthia Bruenig is the Project Director for the OVW Safety and Advocacy for Everyone (SAFE) Grant. She holds a M.Ed.in Adult Learning and brings over 15 years of experience working in the fields of healthcare, adult learning, and social justice.
Dr. Vanessa Hill is a Math professor and has been at STCC, for the past 15 years. For AY 21-22, she was the Presidential Fellow as well as continuing her work with the Antiracism and Inclusion Alliance (AIA).
Yezenia Lopez, is an academic advisor and adjunct faculty at Springfield Technical Community College with over 4 years of experience working in higher education. Some of the courses that she has taught include general psychology, First-Year Experience, and early childhood education courses in Spanish. She is currently the Co-chair of the Hispanic Association in Higher Education (HAHE).
