Students engage with the syllabus, first day. How do we do that? Let’s figure it out. Join us for activities and conversation on developing equitable and inclusive syllabi. Through a series of examples we explore what makes a great syllabus, going beyond the required policies.
Presenters:
Kyle Stephanie Kraus, Instructional Designer at STCC. Prior to STCC, Kyle served at UMass Amherst in positions through Student Affairs to Academic Technology. She has consulted for Amplify, an education company, and several universities and colleges on teaching and learning in hybrid/online education. Since 2019, she has been adjunct faculty teaching First Year Experience at STCC. She is a co-chair of the Massachusetts College Online (MCO), NERCOMP conference committee, and community member of the All Tech is Human organization.
Marisha Marks joined STCC as an Instructional Designer in September 2020 in September of 2020, just as STCC was transitioning from the Covid-19 rapid pivot to remote learning to a more permanent offering of courses in diverse modalities to best serve the needs of our students. Marisha focuses on accessibility and Universal Design for Learning as a way to remove learning barriers and help faculty develop quality courses with student success in mind.
