Please join this session to learn the nuts, bolts, and some great practices associated with the STCC Retention Alert system in ARIES.  It takes a village; faculty, advisors, and Success Coaches are working together to develop a model to reach out to students that may be struggling in a class and develop a plan for success.  All faculty and advisors, full-time, part-time, or adjunct are encouraged to attend this session.


Presenters:

Ann Gervais (pronouns she/her/hers), joined STCC in 2006 as a Professor of Accounting, Finance and Management and Chair of the Business Department.  Ann earned a BBA in Business Management and Accounting at Elms College and an MBA at Western New England University.  Prior to STCC, Ann worked in a corporate environment as an accountant and CFO.


Jason Phillips holds a Bachelor of Science in Movement Science with a concentration in Sports Medicine and Minors in Psychology and Gerontology. Recently, he completed his Master of Arts in Counseling from Westfield State University. Jason is an Academic Counselor, specializing in STEM at STCC and aims for student success and program completion. He has experience working with students on academic warning and suspension and assisting them getting back on track towards their goals and aspirations in life. 


Rosa Sanchez-Santiago (pronouns She/Her/ Ella) is an Academic and Transfer Counselor for the LEAD program here at STCC. As a 2018 alumna of STCC, Rosa brings direct experience and understanding to her work with students as a Community Outreach Counselor and Success Coach within the Student Success Center. She supports students in their academic success by providing personalized guidance/advising, resources, and connecting students to additional supports. She has a passion for Social Justice, and holds a Bachelors in Interdisciplinary Studies.


Aaron Morabito (pronouns they/them) is a Success Coach with the Student Success Center here at STCC. They have recently received their Master's degree in Counselor Education: Student Development in Higher Education from Central Connecticut State University. They take a holistic approach to working with students, and utilize their counselor knowledge base to build trust and offer support to students. Their commitment is to creating truly inclusive environments for students and working towards equity for all marginalized people.
