The Hispanic and Low Income Transformed Education in STEM (HiLITES) project (better known as HSI STEM @ STCC), funded by the U.S. Department of Education (P031C160187), aims to increase the percentage of Hispanic and low-income students entering, progressing, completing, and transferring in STEM disciplines. This is a five-year grant (2016-2021) worth $3.4 million dollars.
Project Activity Goals:
Goal 1: Increase the number of Hispanic and low-income students in STEM disciplines.
Goal 2: Increase pass and retention rates by redesigning developmental and gateway STEM coursework.
Goal 3: Provide student supports throughout degree program to encourage progression and completion.
Goal 4: Provide high-quality professional development to support STEM faculty pedagogy.
