Observe the movement of the cupcake sprinkles as a result of the vibration of the sound waves.
Watch what happens to the dancing cupcake sprinkles in zero gravity.
Observe the response of the styrofoam beads in the resonance tube.
Check out how different the styrofoam beads' reaction is in zero gravity!
Drumming with a metronome on a talking drum (best drum I could find to attach to me but not be too big for the flight!)Â
Drumming in zero g (again, not proper talking drum technique, but needed to adapt experiment to flight specifications)
The die rolls with the parabolas
Beginning Band students composed the rhythm for this composition before I left for my flight. We then assigned notes to each side of the die and filled in our composition based off of the die rolls. Students had one rehearsal with this piece before performing it in our concert.
Middle School band students each composed a 2-measure melody. Each melody was assigned to certain parabolas and the side of the die. When their number popped up, their melody was pasted into our composition. Students had one rehearsal with this piece before performing it in our concert.
High School students at the Summer band camp in Whitewater, WI created a composition with the flight data, too! (July 2022)
