Dear Parents/Carers,
Welcome back after what we hope was a restful and precious time over half-term. Just before half-term, we welcomed the wiser members of our community to our Harvest celebration. The children prepared songs in their music lessons which they performed confidently to both our wiser members of the community and to you as parents. Our faith leaders and hospitality team also spent time after the performance serving our visitors with a selection of hot drinks and cakes after the performance. It was lovely to see the children interacting with our wider community and bringing joy to everyone who attended. Thank you all for the kind donations we received for the harvest, these were delivered to the St Albans District Food bank. The total collected was 132.9 kg, which is the equivalent of 316 meals. Your dedication and support have made a huge difference to the lives of people living in poverty.
Book fair
The annual book fair arrived at school yesterday and books will be available to purchase after school today until Wednesday 12th November. This will take place in either the school hall or the gazebo, weather dependent. Please note that the Book Fair can only accept payment via
Anti-bullying week - week beginning 10th November
During this week the children will take part in assemblies and learning activities with the theme ‘Power for Good’. It is coordinated by the Anti-Bullying Alliance, which is based at leading children’s charity the National Children’s Bureau. The focus for this theme is to empower young people to use their Power for Good to safely speak up and raise awareness when they see bullying, face to face or online. We will also be including specific lessons for all children regarding child-on-child abuse, using the NSPCC Pants resources. Throughout the week, we will also have a whole school performance for the school. During the performance of Time to be Different, we see Lucy and Izzy working on the All About Me project. This is designed to support the key message of the story, that we are all different and that difference should be valued.
Assessment week - week beginning the 17th November
Over this week, the children will undertake assessments in their classes. This is to help support teachers to assess where the children are in terms of meeting age-related standards and supports staff to adapt their planning to address any gaps in learning.
Sadly, we have had the news, that Mrs Wright sadly lost her Dad just before half-term. We know you will join us in keeping both Mrs Wright and her family in our thoughts and prayers at this particularly difficult time.
