Dear Parents/Carers,
As we come to the end of a busy and exciting term, we would like to take this opportunity to thank you for your continued support. The children have worked incredibly hard, embraced new challenges, and demonstrated kindness, resilience, and curiosity throughout the term. We are very proud of them all. The children are very special at St Bernadette school and the recent nativity performances highlighted that. A huge well done to all children and staff involved in our Christmas shows and carol services. The performances were joyful, confident, and beautifully delivered. Thank you to families for attending and supporting with costumes and rehearsals at home. We are deeply grateful for the faith, kindness, and support you show to your children and to our school community. Your partnership helps us nurture a place where Gospel values are lived out each day — a place of compassion, joy, and dignity for every child.
We would like to publicly thank the FABs team for all their hard work this term, especially for organising so many fantastic Christmas events! The FABS have raised over £4000 this term, which is fantastic and will go towards much needed resources.
Finally, I would like to thank the school staff in its widest sense. Mrs Sadek, our caretaker, the office staff, teaching assistants, MSA's, teachers and Governors, thank you for the commitment and care you show to each child on a daily basis. We are blessed to lead and lead with, individuals who are not only passionate about education but that also see the importance of the emotional well-being of the children in our care. Below is a list of all the extra activities the children have taken part in this term, and it shows all that goes into the children that is beyond the classroom.
We encourage children to enjoy reading for pleasure during the holidays. Whether it’s a festive story or a favourite chapter book, a little reading each day can make a big difference. Don’t forget to practise number facts in fun, everyday ways—cooking, shopping, and games all count!
On Monday, the children took part in a safeguarding assembly. The theme was 'Staying safe during the Christmas holidays'. We discussed topics such as, online safety, associated with new devices and games they might be lucky enough to receive. Road safety and remembering to wear their helmets and bright coloured clothes in the evening. We discussed fireworks on new years eve and attending busy events with their families. Most importantly, we discussed looking after their mental well-being. This discussion revolved around getting fresh air, exercise, talking openly to family members if they have any worries, getting good sleep and trying to eat healthy after all the chocolate and Christmas treats we are sure they will enjoy. The children were very receptive and could give lots of their own suggestions on staying safe.
Please make sure you give yourselves some time to relax over the break as well. This time of year can be stressful as well as enjoyable, so remember that you have done more than enough, and your children will simply enjoy spending time with you.
As we prepare to celebrate the birth of Jesus, we are reminded of the great hope, peace, and love that this holy season brings. Christmas invites us to pause, to reflect, and to recognise God’s presence in the simple and quiet moments of our daily lives.
May the light of Christ fill your homes with warmth this Christmas.
May His peace be with your families.
And may the New Year bring blessings of hope and renewal.
From the bottom of our hearts, we wish each of you a very happy and Holy Christmas!
Kind regards,
Mrs Lavelle-Murphy & Mrs Reilly

The results are in! The St Bernadette Lions and Tigers played 10 matches between them this term and were victorious in 8.
The Lions scored 40 goals in 5 matches and only conceded 12 putting them in first place in the preliminary rounds. The Lions have qualified for the Premier League for the fourth consecutive year, and the Tigers placed in a respectable Division 2 out of 6 Divisions and over 30 competing schools.
