Dear Parents/Carers
We hope this newsletter finds you well. It is hard to believe we are entering October so quickly.
This week we have been visiting classrooms with our Governors. It has been a pleasure to watch the children be so actively engaged in their learning while being supported to progress even further by their class teachers and teaching assistants. The new learning, every class displayed in these lessons, was outstanding and the books showed an excellent attitude to school life. A huge well done to both children and staff.
Thank you to Fr Kevin, who came to celebrate mass with us on Wednesday for the new academic year. The children led the mass with real reverence and it was also nice to have some parents and parishioners join us for the morning.
Last week, we had a special assembly to welcome the new reception children and their families into the community. The year 6 children shared their wishes and dreams for their buddies in reception and we let these dreams off into the sky, tied to red balloons. It was a beautiful moment filled with hope and excitement for the year ahead.
Please note, further down in the newsletter, you will see an information sheet linked to online safety. This week, we are highlighting the game, 'Roblox'. Each week we will add information on various apps and games, commonly used by children, that provides advice to parents and children on how to use these safely. Please see the school website for further information on online safety.
We have also updated the statutory policies available on the school website with the new guidance from the DfE.
Wishing you all a wonderful weekend
Mrs. Lavelle-Murphy & Mrs. Reilly
Using some of our Sports Premium funding, the school has purchased a set of bicycles to help our children become more confident at riding a bike. Teachers will start to use these within some PE lessons and we have also started introducing them to playtimes. The children have thoroughly enjoyed using the bikes so far!
The local food bank has asked that we support their Harvest collection this year to support the families who need it the most in our community.
This year they have specifically asked for:
Tin Soups / Big Soups
Spaghetti / Macaroni Cheese
Cooking / Pasta Sauces
Tinned fruit / Puddings
Fruit Squash (orange/ lemon/ blackcurrant)
Sugar/flour/Olive oil
Tinned meat & fish
Loo rolls
Biscuits
Cereal
Coffee
Please could any donations be brought into school by Friday 14th October. These can be donated through the school office or the children can bring them into their classrooms. Thank you very much for your ongoing support. More information on the local food bank can be found at: https://londoncolneybaptistchurch.co.uk/churches-together-food-bank/
