St Bernadette Catholic Primary School

Message from the

Co-headteachers

Dear Parents and Carers,

We hope this email finds you well and that you have all had the opportunity to read through our excellent report from our recent RE Ofsted.  As we stated in the email sent out with the report, we are very happy and look forward to moving on even further in the future, the governors and staff are very proud of the whole community and look forward to continuing to flourish even further in the future.

Please can I remind you to sign up to a slot for 'Celebrate my work' day if you haven't already.   This will take place on Monday 20th November at either 9am or 2.30pm.  It is importnat that you sign up in order for the class teacher to ensure your child and their books are available in those slots.  If you are having trouble doing this, please contact the school office for support.

Mrs Mills is hosting another SEND coffee morning in the school hall on Friday 24th November at 9am.  Please feel free to come along if you have any concerns about your child that you would like to discuss to in a safe forum.

Parent consultations will take place the week beginning the 27th November.  A letter has gone out to all parents regarding this.  The letter outlines times and dates for your child's class and how to make the booking.  Again if you are unsure of how this works, please do not hesitate to contact the school office for further guidance.

Finally, we wish you a lovely weekend and look forward to welcoming as many of you as possible on Monday to 'Celebrate' your child's work.

Kind regards

Mrs Lavelle-Murphy & Mrs Reilly

PRAYER FOR PEACE

from Pax Christi USA & the Fellowship of Reconciliation

O God, you are the source of life and peace. Praised be your name forever. We know it is you who turn our minds to thoughts of peace. Hear our prayer in this time of war. Your power changes hearts. Muslims, Christians, and Jews remember, and profoundly affirm, that they are followers of the one God, children of Abraham, brothers and sisters; enemies begin to speak to one another; those who were estranged join hands in friendship; nations seek the way of peace together. Strengthen our resolve to give witness to these truths by the way we live. Give to us: Understanding that puts an end to strife; Mercy that quenches hatred; and Forgiveness that overcomes vengeance. Empower all people to live in your law of love.

 Amen

Lost Property Workforce!

Thank you to our keen volunteers for working hard to sort out our lost property box.

Netball Victory!

The St Bernadette Lions did themselves proud again with their toughest match of the season so far. Killigrew school has a long history of being a Premiership side, and beat us 9-2 last year. This year however, both teams were very evenly matched, with the game swinging each way almost by the minute, the most exciting game they've played so far. The game ended with an 8-8 draw, which leaves the Lions undefeated to date. Tia Captained the match. Great goals from Valentino and Florence, with Valentino being awarded Player of the Match so he will Captain the next Lions match. Well done to Valentino, Alex F, Max, Florence, Tia, Scarlett, Freya, Kaylah and Astena. Hear those Lions ROAR!!

Governing Body Vacancies

We currently have vacancies on our governing body, including a foundation governor and parent governor role and are seeking nominations for enthusiastic and committed parents or carers to join the governing board.

The core functions of the governing board are:

The governing board’s main tasks are to support the school, ensure that all pupils receive a high quality education and plan for future development and improvement. Parent governors are welcomed as valued members of the team and play a vital role in ensuring the governing board is aware of the views of parents and the local community.

Governors currently meet as a board six times a year and meetings usually start at 6.00pm and are finished around 8.00pm. All meetings are held at the school or virtually. If needed, additional meetings will be planned with, unless there are extraordinary circumstances, seven days’ notice given. Governors are occasionally required to visit the school during the day for monitoring visits and are encouraged to support school events, where possible. We offer new governors a comprehensive and supportive induction, and each new governor is assigned a mentor. Full training for the role is also available.

If you are interested in becoming a governor or you have any questions about the role please do not hesitate the chair of governors; email addresses are Catherine Turton-Ryz at gov.turton-ryz@stbernadette.herts.sch.uk or Jane Williams as gov.williams@stbernadette.herts.sch.uk .

Wider family members would also be considered and we would really appreciate any support possible.
