Dear Parents/Carers,

I hope this newsletter finds you well and enjoying the long awaited sunshine! We have been keeping a close eye on the children at lunch time in this heat and stopping lunch slight early so the children can sit in a shaded area for a while before going back to class.  Please ensure sun cream is applied before school and the children are sent it with a hat and water bottle each day.

Oliver & Akers Competition

Our sponsorship partner, Oliver & Akers Estate Agents, recently held a 'Design Your Dream Home' competition in school. Congratulations to the winners Isaac (Reception) and Natalia (Year 5), who each have an art set prize to take home today.

Colour Run

A huge thank you to the wonderful FABS team for organising the wonderful Colour Run at the start of the week.  The atmosphere was electric from start to finish and the feedback from the children was amazing.  We look forward to hosting another one in the future in which we hope that the children can also enter with their family members and run together.

Careers day

Thank you to all the parents and other volunteers who came to talk with our children.  They had a wonderful day learning about the various different professions and were hopefully inspired by some of the exciting information that was shared with them.

Phonics screening tests

A huge well done to the children and staff in year 1.  The children sat their phonics screening tests last week and performed amazingly well.  It was testimony to the outstanding work and commitment from both the children, staff and parents and the children should be exceptionally proud of their achievements.

District Sports

Success at district sports - we are so proud of all the children that took part in district sports. We had qualifiers for finals and an excellent effort put in by all. The parent support was very much appreciated too - even in the heat of the athletics track!

Year 6 writing moderation

The school was selected by Herts for an external statutory moderation visit that focused on year 6 writing.  Yet again, it was a great opportunity for Mrs Bennett to share with external partners the excellent writing that year 6 have produced by the end of a successful year.  The moderator agreed with all of the judgements that Mrs Bennett had made and was thoroughly impressed with the overall standard of work.  Another huge congratulations to the staff and children in year 6.

Finally, I would like to wish you a fun weekend in the sun with your family and friends

Best wishes

Mrs Lavelle-Murphy & Mrs Alger
