Dear Parents/Carers,
Thank you to all those parents who emailed in to share how your children were caring for creation at home and in the community. It was lovely to see the children putting their Catholic social teaching into action!
Thank you to all the FAB's team on hosting a brilliant school disco this week at school. It was a real pleasure to watch the children having such a great time, whilst raising important funds for the school.
Last week, Deacon Liam hosted a live-stream Rosary event across all ASCAT schools. October is the month of the Rosary, so we hope to support the children in knowing how to pray a decade of the Rosary together as a Trust family, praying for peace in our world. The children have been given rosary beads to take home with them today and they can use these to pray the Rosary at home.
You can access the Rosary Live : ASCAT Rosary
Today we celebrated 'Wear Red Day 2025 - Show racism the red card'. It was really important for us to celebrate this special day as a community to highlight our support as a school against racism. Our school community is becoming more and more diverse and we want to work together to ensure that everyone in our community feels seen, supported and welcomed. Today with the children we discussed the definition of racism and what they could do if they were to witness or receive racism in school, online or within the community. The aim was to get the children to think about how they can report racism as well as how to be a good ally to someone who has received racism.

St Bernadette vs Sandridge School
The St Bernadette Tigers were off to a flying start with their first match at home against Sandridge School. Sienna was selected as Captain due to a solid performance in training and absolutely shone as Goal Shooter with 7 stunning goals. Fast on his feet Elijah scored 4 as Goal Attack and was awarded Most Valuable Player by the opposing team, so he will Captain the next Tiger's Fixture. Coach's special mention goes to Francesca in Year 5, who stepped up to play with the Year 6 team and dominated the mid-court, commanding the game to an 11-1 win.
A huge well done to Sienna, Elijah, Natalia, Francesca (Year 5), Carolina, Olivia, Holly, Luca (Year 5) and Leo. Go Tigers!
St Bernadette vs St Adrian's School
The St Bernadette Lions kicked off their competitive netball season with a challenging game against St Adrian's school. It looked as if the game could go either way but the Lions edged ahead with two goals before the end of the first quarter from Evie, our Captain. Two more goals from Evie and Tiago secured a 4-1 victory, with Tiago being awarded Most Valuable Player by the opposition, so he will Captain the next Lions fixture. Coach's special mention goes to Margarida who played a very strong game against multiple tough opponents but kept her cool throughout.
It was a tough battle so well done to Evie, Tiago, Daisy (Year 5), Florence, Holly, Margarida, Lucia and Leo. Go Lions!
St Bernadette vs How Wood School
It was another great game for the St Bernadette Lions who played against a stronger-than-last-year How Wood School. There was good gameplay on both sides but with skilled defending from Lucia and Freddie and slick goal shooting, St Bernadette pulled ahead in the second quarter. Evie was awarded Most Valuable Player so she will Captain the next match for the team. Coach's special mention goes to Elijah who came on for the second half and scored five goals in twelve minutes of game play. Added to Evie's four goals and Daisy's one, the Lions roared to a 10-1 win.
Well done to Tiago, Evie, Daisy, Elijah, Florence, Holly, Margarida, Lucia and Freddie.
