St Bernadette Catholic Primary School
Message from the
Co-headteachers
Dear Parents and Carers,
We are now at the end of the first half term of 2024. Spring is nearly upon us with brighter and longer days to come. The children and staff have worked extremely hard this year making invaluable progress. Parents and carers will have the opportunity to talk to the teachers about this at the next parents evening after returning to school. Please ensure you book your time for parents evening if you haven't done so already.
Ash Wednesday mass
This week the whole school attended mass at Our Lady of Walsingham for Ash Wednesday. It was lovely to also receive an email from a parishioner after the mass stating 'Can you pass onto St Bernadette's on how amazing all the children were today at mass. So lovely to see all the hands go up when Fr Kevin asked questions and so well behaved during mass. I miss those days when both my boys were at St Bernadettes.' As always the children behaved with true reverence and participated fully in the service. Please see below the fundraiser we are participating over Lent for CAFOD.
Cultural day
Thank you to all those parents and family members who attended our cultural day last week. The children and staff had great fun preparing for this day, cooking up some wonderful recipies and performing some entrtaining dance routines. It is so important that we encourage the children to learn and have respect for all and what a wonderful way this was to encourage that.

Attendance Matters
For most pupils, the best place to be during term-time in is school, surrounded by the support of their friends and teachers. This is important not just for your child’s learning, but also for their overall wellbeing, wider development and their mental health. As a parent, it can be difficult to know when to send your child into school if they are feeling unwell or a mildly anxious, but finding solutions is a team effort between schools, parents and children, and there is support and information available to help you make the best decision for your child.
