Foundational Theology Paper 1
Things to remember
There are different denominations or groups of Jews who may disagree with each other on various matters. It is important that you know how their beliefs vary.
Orthodox Jews - The largest Jewish group in Britain. They are traditional in their beliefs and teachings as they believe the Torah was given directly from God.
Reform Jews - A Jewish group that believe the Torah is a document written by humans but inspired by God, which reflects the human search for God. Reform Jews emphasise the importance of the ethical mitzvot.
Judaism is considered to be the oldest of the world's monotheistic religions. It is founded on the belief that there is one God who has revealed himself to key prophets and created covenants with Noah, Abraham and Moses to establish laws that many Jewish people still follow today.
