Happy February! 💕 Our classroom is busy learning, growing, and celebrating kindness this month. Below is a look at what your child will be learning and practicing across subjects.

Math – Subtraction Fun
This month, we are exploring subtraction by taking away objects and counting what is left. Students will use hands-on tools like counters, pictures, and number stories to build a strong understanding of subtraction in a fun and meaningful way.

Reading – Building Strong Readers
In reading, we are focusing on:

• CVC words (consonant-vowel-consonant) such as cat, hop, and sit

• Blends like bl, st, and cr

• Reading for fluency, helping students read smoothly and confidently

We practice reading every day through small groups, games, and repeated reading of familiar texts.

Listening, Retelling & Comprehension
During read-aloud time, students will listen carefully to stories and practice:

• Retelling events in order

• Identifying characters and settings

• Answering questions to show understanding

These skills help build strong comprehension and prepare students to become thoughtful readers.

February Focus: Kindness & Love
February is a special time to talk about kindness, friendship, and caring for others. We will practice using kind words, sharing, and showing respect in our classroom community.
