Dear First Grade Families,

I hope you all enjoyed your weekend and had some time to relax! I also hope that you had a fabulous Halloween. Here are a few friendly reminders and updates for the week:

• Winter Uniform starts tomorrow November 2 — No more shorts or khaki skirts

• Change Spree starts tomorrow Please click here to see the flyer.

• Math test: Topic 3 - Wednesday, November 4 — Spelling test - Week 4 - Friday 11/6 

• Please have your child finish Side 2 of the phonics page in the home folder and return it the next day. For math, your child will complete one page from the Homework & Practice book—please tear out that homework page and send it back with your child the following day. The math workbook can stay at home. 

• Please practice IXL and Reflex Math. See the suggested guidelines on the homework page.

Helpful reminders

• Please send a healthy NUT-FREE snack, a reusable water bottle (no disposable or squirt bottles), and lunch with any needed utensils on full days.

• Other beverages are allowed only in the cafeteria.

If your child will be absent or there’s a dismissal change, please notify the office by phone or email so we can keep everyone safe.

• Phonics test: Wednesday, October  28 — Please practice the phonics homework with your child. Don't forget the coding section and sight words. The test will cover the letters c and b, along with blends.

• Please have your child finish Side 2 of the phonics page in the home folder and return it the next day. For math, your child will complete one page from the Homework & Practice book—please tear out that homework page and send it back with your child the following day. The math workbook can stay at home.

• Phonics test: Thursday, October  22 — Please practice the phonics homework with your child. Don't forget the coding section and sight words. The test will cover the letters f, r, g, and h.

• Spelling test: Friday, October  23 — The words will be in the student planner, home folder, and they are also posted under spelling words. Be sure to remind them that sentences begin with an uppercase/capital letter and end with a punctuation mark.

• Please have your child finish Side 2 of the phonics page in the home folder and return it the next day. For math, your child will complete one page from the Homework & Practice book—please tear out that homework page and send it back with your child the following day. The math workbook can stay at home.

Buddy Ceremony — Friday, October 2

• We’re excited for our Buddy Ceremony on Friday, October 2 at 12:15 PM in the church. The 1st and 8th graders love meeting their buddies — it’s such a sweet tradition! If you’d like to attend, please fill out the Google form sent via Class Dojo. Formal uniforms are a must.

Dear First Grade Families, 

I hope all of my first grade families had a wonderful long weekend. I had a wonderful time meeting all of my parents on Back to School Night. The cookie dough fundraiser is almost over. Get your orders in while you can. Tomorrow is picture day. Please "dress to impress" or simply wear your formal unform so you that you look your best.

This is our third full week of school. We will continue with homework this week and add in a fewe assessments. Students will receive a phonics page inside of the home folder. They need to complete side 2 and return it in the folder the following day. They will also complete a math page in the homework and practice book. Simply look at the heading Monday's lesson is 1.7. Have them complete the homework, tear out the page and return it the next day in the home folder. Work will be checked and sent home usually on the same day.  Students will copy their homework every day in a daily planner, It's also on the website in case they make a mistake or I make a change.

Upcoming Tests:

9/24 - Spelling - Test Lesson 1 - The words are in the planner, in the home folder, and available above under spelling words.

9/25 - Math - Topic 1 - You will see review pages in the home folder. They are not mandatory but encouraged. I do not check them.

Dear First Grade Families, 

I hope all of my first grade families had a wonderful weekend. I am looking forward to meeting the parents/guardians of my students on Thursday, 9/17. Don't forget to stop by the cafeteria to by you child a Smencil (scented pencil). It means so much to them. Please send in a pair of headphones (to remain at school) for technology. We have tech on Thursdays.
