About the HSA
The Home School Association (HSA) is always hard at work behind the scenes to support our school community. We aim to keep our mission and goals clear to all our families, and we encourage everyone to get involved. If you have any questions or need more information, feel free to contact the HSA at hsa@stbartseb.com. As representatives of the Saint Bartholomew community, we strive to meet the needs of our children and their families. The HSA is a dynamic and essential support group of dedicated volunteers working under the guidance of the school principal to help achieve the school's mission and objectives. The primary purpose of St. Bartholomew School is to love, educate, and inspire our children to live according to the teachings of Jesus Christ.
The HSA Board
The HSA is led by an executive board consisting of a president, vice president, treasurer, and secretary. Each board position is a two-year commitment, filled through a nomination process involving the school community and a selection committee composed of the principal, teachers, and parents. Board members are then appointed by the pastor and principal. In addition to the executive board, the HSA includes various committees such as Legislative, Social Concerns, Spirituality, Publicity, Hospitality, and Fundraising.
Volunteering
Volunteering is a core component of the HSA's efforts. The Diocese of Metuchen requires all volunteers to undergo a background check, fingerprint screening, and attend a "Protecting God's Children for Adults" training session. This applies to anyone who wishes to volunteer at the school in any capacity, including coaches and chaperones. To become a volunteer, please visit our website at this link and click "Become a Volunteer."
Fundraising and Service Events
All funds raised by the HSA directly support the school and help keep tuition affordable. Our major fundraisers include the Magazine and Cookie Sale, Basket Raffle, Gertrude Hawk Sale, and the Scrip Program. The Scrip Program allows families to purchase gift cards at face value, with the school earning a profit from the discounted rates at which we acquire these cards. For more details, you can check our website or contact the SCRIP coordinator directly.
Service and Community Events
The HSA also organizes various events to foster community spirit and provide fun and engaging experiences for our students. These include the St. Nick Sale, Mission Fair, Sweetheart Dance, "Event with the Boys," Pancake Breakfasts, and Field Day. These events offer great opportunities for parents and guardians to get involved and create memorable moments for our children.
We welcome your participation and ideas. Together, we can continue to create a vibrant, supportive, and thriving school community!
