E-learning

For the remainder of the school year, St. Barnabas School will engage in electronic learning and conduct all classes digitally.

Students are expected DAILY to check homework posted on teachers' Google sites and assignments on Google Classroom. All work should be submitted electronically. Work will be graded. Teachers will be available via email to answer any questions and address any concerns. Junior High students are expected to complete no more than three hours of e-learning daily. Power School grades will be updated at least weekly, but likely even more frequently. Please contact me with questions or concerns: dviz@stbarnabasparish.org.

Schedule for Fridays: There will be no new work assigned for students in their regular academic classes (ELA, math, social studies, math, science, and religion). Instead, students should use their time on Fridays to work on assignments for specials classes (physical education, art, music, media, and Spanish) and to catch up on anything from earlier in the week that needs more time. All teachers will be available via email throughout the day, as usual. Friday schedule is as follows:

  • Specials ... Express Yourself with Art and Music, Practice your Espanol, Work out to stay healthy and pick up another type of "media'' other than tech. Specials teachers will post enjoyable activities to support students' social-emotional well-being. Prek-5th will not be graded; 6-8th grade completion/participation grades will be determined by the teacher.
  • Catch up ... on any missed or incomplete work. No new assigned content for the day.
  • Zoom Class Calls (Teachers will schedule in advance with classes.)
  • Get extra support during Office Hours ... Reach out to your teacher for help between 9:00-12:00pm on anything you didn't understand this past week.
  • DEAR - (Drop Everything And Read) Read for enjoyment!
  • Enrichment (as desired) Teachers have additional optional learning activities posted on their sites.
