Overview and Data

What is the CIP, and why did we decide to join?  Be sure to check out our overview resources.  Since we have joined, we have made HUGE growth!  Did you know that Staunton City Schools made the HIGHEST level of growth than any other division in the CIP consortium from 2019 to 2022?!

Pacing and Benchmark Assessments

Did you know . . . ?

The CIP typically paces curriculum so that the most difficult concepts occur at the start of the year.  This allows teachers to spiral this difficult content throughout the year, as needed, for the highest level of mastery.  Within each quarter, teachers may choose to sequence content slightly differently; the benchmark test will measure the cumulative skills identified in each quarter.  (Refer to the benchmark testing chart.)

The CIP lists each subject area individually.  The following pacing charts place all of the curriculum in one location and aligns standards with our current texts and resources.

Instructional Resources

Did you know . . . ?

The CIP provides many instructional resources.  These are intended as just that -- resources.  Teachers should review these for each of their content areas to determine which ones might be most useful for instruction.  The CIP will seek participation on curriculum groups each fall.  This is a great way to contribute to this bank of resources.  Be on the look-out for these opportunities!  In addition, we also provide local instructional resources in these locations:

Performance Assessments

Did you know . . . ?

The state allows us to use alternative assessments in place of certain SOL tests.  Here are some areas where these have been implemented:
