Classroom updates:
This week in our classrooms:
6th grade students continue the journey of the Isralites in the desert lead by Moses and the many different ways they tested God's faithfulness. The Ten Commandments and the Ark of the Covenant play an essential part in our chapter and the students will be expected to memorize the commandments in order as well as the importance of the ark. We will talk about the 3-pillars of Lent: Prayer, Fasting, and Almsgiving and the students will be working on a project to implement them in their Lenten Journey.
7th grade students will continue to study Jesus' teaching on the Beatitudes and the Lord's Prayer, (Our Father.) We will look at the petitions in the Lord's prayer, the attitudes and behaviors we are called to live by following the beatitudes and living the Lord's Prayer.
7th grade Lenten project "What can " WE DO" in our school to bring our Lenten practices of prayer, fasting, and almsgiving to our school community? Last week I asked the students to come up with ideas per grade level that we as a class could put into practice for Lent. Cannot wait for Tuesday!
8th grade students finished a great chapter regarding heresies, challenging emperors, popes and saints that helped lead the church through turbulent times. This week we will see the Roman Empire weakening and the result it will bring with barbarians invading the empire. Once again a pope with the guidance of the Holy Spirit will bring peace and awareness of the love that God has for all people, and the results from his love and faithfulness when we follow HIs ways.
For Lent the 8th grade will experience the "Beam" in their eyes and how the practices of prayer, fasting, and almsgiving help us discover the true gift of God's love and mercy.
"You must accept your cross; if you bear it courageously it will carry you to heaven." St. John Vianney
My Morning Offering prayer.
