Work-based learning, apprenticeships and opportunities to upskill and reskill our current workforce is the future of work. During the final week of Workforce Development Month, CDLE will highlight opportunities for a variety of work-based learning models intended to build a culture of lifelong learning. Apprenticeships allow individuals to apply skills learned in the classroom to the real world, provide wages and support throughout learning, and create access to sustainable career pathways.
Employers who host apprenticeship programs enjoy:
The ability to train future employees with the exact skills their organization needs
Increased employee retention, engagement, and morale
A diversified workforce by lowering barriers to access
Apprenticeships help career seekers:
Learn in-demand skills that employers seek
Earn a paycheck and receive wage increases during the apprenticeship
Obtain employment, often at the employer hosting the apprenticeship program
