DORA celebrated Consumer Protection Week this past November by rewarding those who have worked diligently this past year on protecting Colorado consumers at its first "Get Wise" Consumer Protection Awards.
The Division of Real Estate would like to extend a sincere applause to the Jefferson County Sheriff's Department, who was recognized as a valued partner of DORA for their work developing an educational program called Realty Watch, specifically to educate licensed real estate brokers on how to say safe on the job. We look forward to working with the Jefferson County Sheriff's Department in the future.
At the Colorado Real Estate Commission meeting on December 4, 2018, the Commission revised and adopted a new Commission Position on Office Policy Manuals in response to the passage of HB18-1128 (Protections for Consumer Data Privacy).
Throughout the year each program at the Division of Real Estate goes through rule changes, application reviews, renewals and other related activities affecting both licensees and the consumer.

This quarter Lead Real Estate Investigator Sarah Halloran explores the trials and tribulations associated with “love letters” and investigators discuss recent instances of someone pretending to be a buyer and trying to bait and lure real estate brokers into meeting.
For 2019 there have been numerous changes made to the Division of Real Estate (the Division) standard forms and contracts, and Brokers are encouraged to take a comprehensive contract review course in early 2019. It is additionally recommended to review the redline versions of the new contracts. It is essential that brokers remember they are required to be competent on all forms and contracts they are utilizing.
