The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) developed a series of interactive videos called “Quality in Focus” (QIF) on the Quality, Safety & Education Portal (QSEP). The 10-15 minute videos are self-paced and are located under the Q-tab at the top of the screen. They will help providers and suppliers participating in the Medicare and Medicaid programs better understand how to improve health and safety in facilities.
The QIF series aims to increase the quality of care for people with Medicare and Medicaid by reducing the deficiencies most commonly cited during the CMS survey process, such as infection control and accident prevention. These resources will help providers and suppliers better understand surveyor evaluation criteria, recognize deficiencies, and incorporate solutions into their facilities’ standards of care, so they are more equipped to meet health and safety guidelines. Below are interactive videos suited for Home Health Agencies:
Hospice Plan of Care Citations
Home Health Agency (HHA) Incomplete Individualized Plan of Care Citations
Please note that the information in the interactive videos is for informational purposes and is not meant to take the place of statutes, regulations, or official CMS policy.
In November, I conducted six 3-hour training sessions on OASIS-E. It was shared with me that more interactive and/or in-depth training on the Brief Interview for Mental Status (BIMS) and the Confusion Assessment Method (CAM), would have been beneficial in the training. With that said, I have included videos created by the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) providing further guidance on how each of the above-mentioned assessments should be completed.
Additionally, for those of you who were able or were not able to attend the training sessions, the self-paced learning module/training should be made available on Co-Train next month. Once the information has been added to Co-Train, be on the lookout for a message letting you know it is ready to be viewed. Thank you all for your continued patience!
