Our Plant in Grand Junction, CO manufactures Ricon® resins that are low molecular weight homopolymers of butadiene and copolymers with Styrene. Ricon® resins are produced to precisely and consistently control the micro-structure of the polymer (Molecular Weight, Poly-Dispersity, Vinyl Content, Monomer Ratio).
Ricon® Low-Vinyl resins are low Tg (glass-transition temperature) Low viscosity liquid polymers. Low vinyl resins are especially useful as reactive processing aids. Ricon® High-Vinyl resins are (relatively) high Tg liquid polymers. High vinyl resins are especially useful as rubber coagents.
Ricon® Copolymers span the range of vinyl contents and molecular weights. Incorporating Styrene changes the compatibility and Tg of the Ricon® Resins leading to opportunities to blend these polymers with numerous elastomers.
Ricobond® low molecular weight polymers incorporate functionality into formulations. The Ricobond® family of maleinized polybutadiene products are used to promote adhesion to various substrates in peroxide and sulfur cured systems. The Maleic functionality can also be used to improve filler incorporation into rubber and plastic substrates.
Total Cray Valley, through Total, is a committed participant in the American Chemistry Council’s (ACC) Responsible Care® initiative. Responsible Care® is the global chemical industry performance initiative that is implemented in the United States through the American Chemistry Council. In the U.S., Responsible Care companies have reduced environmental releases by 71 percent and achieved an employee safety record that is more than four times safer than the average of the U.S. manufacturing sector.
In order to meet their Responsible Care obligations, Total Cray Valley has demonstrated conformance in the RCMS model which requires following the traditional Plan-Do-Check-Act management system model through RCMS certification.
