The U.S. GSA manages the Denver Federal Center (DFC) that consists of a 623-acre campus, occupied by 28 federal agencies in 44 federal buildings.
Responsible Energy & Greenhouse Gas Reduction
Renewable Energy Source - converted all solar inverters to micro inverters and increased production over 10%.
DFC Goals include energy reduction usage of 2.5% for each year after the baseline usage in 2015.
Installed high efficiency chillers, and replaced street and parking lights with LEDs.
Fine tuning boiler parameters for efficiency to reduce natural gas usage.
In 2020, at several buildings we converted several multi zone air handlers from a pneumatic control system to a direct digital current system that reduces the need for air compressors.
Completed an ESPC project that upgraded the existing lights in 6 buildings to all LED with an overall 30% usage reduction.
The Denver Federal Center is participating in a pilot electric vehicle charging station project.
Waste Minimization & Diversion
Diverted 58% of waste going to landfills through recycling and improving green purchasing strategies.
DFC goal of a waste reduction to achieve the federal goal of 50%.
Implemented a commercial organic waste collection service for 6 buildings on the DFC campus that comprises of 28 occupied facilities.
Water Conservation & Quality
Implemented smart irrigation methods, and deployed alternative water treatment systems.
DFC goal of water reduction of 1.5% from a 2015 baseline.
Corporate Social Responsibility
Operates a farmers market for the community from June through September.
Hosted a bi-annual prescription drug take back event in partnership with the Department of Health and Human Services.
Created a pollinator garden on campus for migratory wildlife.
Denver Federal Center is pursuing LEED Master Site accreditation. The estimated 21 credits that will be earned in the areas of transportation, sustainable sites, and water efficiency will be used by individual LEED projects on the Denver Federal Center, such as the B48 capital modernization project.
Has agreed to participate in Xcel Energy's Strategic Energy Management Program (SEM).
